Colorado Department of Education - This web site is provided by the Colorado Department of Education and is entitled “Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans: Questions and Answers”.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) - website offers information about mood disorders, support groups and their various chapters. The site also offers advocacy advice and confidential screenings as well as a way to join the DBSA e-mail list. Also available in Spanish.

The Gathering Place - mission is to “provide a supportive environment for persons with severe and persistent mental illness, focusing on strengths rather than limitations, in order to facilitate life choices and more independent living.”

Gentle Teaching - This site discusses the “Gentle Teaching” instructional strategy – “a non-violent approach for helping people with special needs and sometimes challenging behaviors…” It includes a web link to the Gentle Teaching International home page.

Mental Health Channel - provides information and articles about various mental health conditions. The site was developed and is monitored byboard-certified physicians. Included are a clinical trial information, a glossary ofterms, links and videos.

NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) “is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of personsliving with serious mental illness and their families.” Their site includes advocacyinformation, support groups, mental health information and resources.

National Association of School Psychologists - The web site of the National Association of School Psychologists. It includes their position papers on a number of educational, behavioral, and assessment issues.

National Institutes of Mental Health- This booklet put out by the National Institutes of Mental Health “is designed tohelp mental health patients and their families understand how and why medicationscan be used as part of the treatment of mental health problems.”

The National Mental Health Association represents the oldest and largest non-profit organization that addresses mental health in the United States. This siteincludes mental health information, news releases, advocacy information, freepublications and more. Also available in Spanish.

OSEP Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) - This is the home page for the OSEP Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS). The purpose of PBIS is to give schools information and technical assistance to identify, adapt, and sustain positive behavioral interventions and supports school-wide. Also available in Spanish.

SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) National Mental Health Information Center site includes resources such as mentalhealth FAQs, a mental health dictionary, children’s mental health and anxiety management. Also available in Spanish.
