Coalition for Barrier Free Living - This is the home page for the Coalition for Barrier Free Living including the Houston area Centers for Independent Living (Houston CIL, Brazoria County CIL and Fort Bend CIL). Their mission is to “promote the full inclusion, equal opportunity and participation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of community life.”

Community Living Exchange Collaborative - The web site of the Community Living Exchange Collaborative. “Through a variety of activities, The Exchange is breaking down long-standing barriers that often prevent news of community living innovations and ideas from traveling from one organization, city or state to the next.”

Disability World - Disability World is “a bimonthly web-zine of international news and views...dedicated to advancing an exchange of information and research about the international independent living movement of people with disabilities.” It contains a number of topics, web links, and a database of abstracts. Also available in Spanish.

“Enable America is working in partnership with people with disabilities, elected
officials, educators, government agencies and employers to assist people with
disabilities in achieving greater independence through opportunities for employment,
civic involvement and community participation.”

Employment Strategies for Youth and Adults with Disabilities - This page is entitled “Employment Strategies for Youth and Adults with Disabilities” and provides links to articles and online resources related to employment and Supplemental Security Income.

Employment Support Institute at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business - This is the web site of the Employment Support Institute at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business. This site “provides supports for better decision-making about employment options and policies affecting people with disabilities.”

Entry Point! - This is the web site for Entry Point!, “a program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science offering outstanding internship opportunities for students with disabilities in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science.”

GLADNET (Global Applied Disability and Information Network on Employment and Training) - This is the web site for GLADNET (Global Applied Disability and Information Network on Employment and Training). GLADNET “brings together research centers, universities, enterprises, government departments, and other groups together for the promotion of research as well as the collection, analysis and exchange of information concerning people with disabilities and work.”

Imagine Enterprises - This is the web site of Imagine Enterprises who promotes inclusion in the workplace through “local awareness, targeted training, employer symposiums, demonstration sites, technical assistance, and employment services.” The site contain information about their areas of focus and programs, as well as links to related web sites and resources.

Institute on Independent Living - This is the web site of the Institute on Independent Living who “offers resources for people with extensive disabilities and develops consumer driven policies for self-determination, self-respect and dignity. It includes a database of articles and resources; a Personal Assistant Referral Database; and other web links.

Job Accommodation Network - The home page of the Job Accommodation Network, a free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the employability of people with disabilities.

Just One Break (JOB) - This is the web site of Just One Break (JOB), a non-profit employment and advocacy service whose mission is “to find competitive employment for people with disabilities through partnerships with companies in all industries.”

National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth - This is the web site of the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth. “NCWD/Youth strives to ensure that youth with disabilities are provided full access to high quality services in integrated settings in order to maximize their opportunities for employment and independent living.”

National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research - The web site of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, purpose is to “conduct comprehensive and coordinated programs of research and related activities to maximize full inclusion, social integration, employment, and independent living of disabled individuals of all ages.”

Research Information on Independent Living (RIIL) - This is a searchable database containing reviews of research materials concerning independent living, entitled Research Information on Independent Living (RIIL).

Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services - This link takes you to the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services’ manual entitled Community Care Options which includes program and service descriptions, interest list contact information and local DADS offices.

Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services - The web site of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services whose vision is that “older Texans and persons with disabilities will be supported by a comprehensive and cost-effective service delivery system that promotes and enhances individual well-being, dignity, and choice.” The department serves older Texans and people who have either cognitive or physical disabilities “through a range of health, community, and social services designed to help them remain as independent as possible.” Also available in Spanish.

Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services - The web site of the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services whose mission is “to work in partnership with Texans with disabilities and families with children who have developmental delays to improve the quality of their lives and to enable their full participation in society.” Services include rehabilitation services.

Training Resources Network, Inc - The home page of Training Resources Network, Inc., a publisher of resources emphasizing issues such as supported employment, person-centered planning, and self- determination.

U.S. Department of Labor’s “Disability and Workforce Programs” - This is the U.S. Department of Labor’s “Disability and Workforce Programs” home home page. It includes information on work and employment incentive grants as well as the Ticket To Work program.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - The web site of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Available in Spanish.

World Institute on Disability - The home page of the World Institute on Disability, “a non-profit research, training and public policy center promoting the civil rights and full societal inclusion of people with disabilities
