AAC Intervention - This web site, entitled AAC Intervention.com, was created by two speech-language pathologists in order to “provide time-saving, easy-to-use, affordable intervention materials to support children and adults in their functional use of augmentative/alternative communication systems.” It includes activities and resources; tips from other parents and professionals; conferences and workshops; web links, message boards and more.

AAC Institute - This is the web site of the AAC Institute, a non-profit organization “dedicated to the most effective communication for people who rely on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).”

AAC-RERC (Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Communication Enhancement) - This is the home page of AAC-RERC (Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Communication Enhancement). RERC conducts research in the area of augmentative and alternative communication, develops and evaluates technology, and provides training. Their site contains publications, resources and web links.

Ability Hub - This is the web site of Ability Hub “for people with a disability who find operating a computer difficult, maybe even impossible. This web site will direct you to adaptive equipment and alternative methods for accessing computers.”

ABLEDATA - This is the home page of ABLEDATA, a federally funded project whose primary mission is to provide information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment. Their site provides access to a database of products; a consumer forum for product review; assistive technology information and conferences; web links and more.

Access Point Solutions, Inc - The web site of Access Point Solutions, Inc., “dedicated to finding the right technology solution to meet your needs.”

Accessible Book Collection - This web site provides information about the Accessible Book Collection, a private non-profit corporation that provides digital text of copyrighted books. “Digital text can be a real boon for students who are vision impaired, have difficulty tracking, can’t turn pages, or who need to increase their reading speed.”

Alliance for Technology Access - The web site of the Alliance for Technology Access, whose mission is to “connect children and adults with disabilities to technology tools”. Included is a listing of resources, related public policy, and available ATA programs.

Assistive Listening Devices in the Classroom - This is an article entitled “The Role of Assistive Listening Devices in the Classroom” written by an audiologist with the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

AssistiveTech - This is the AssistiveTech.net web site. “We are a resource for assistive technology (AT) and a link to a wide variety of AT and disability-related information. Our searchable database of AT is designed to help you target solutions, determine costs and link to vendors that sell products.”

Assistive Technology Training Online Project (ATTO) - This is the web site of the Assistive Technology Training Online Project (ATTO) and “provides information on AT applications that help students with disabilities learn in elementary classrooms.”

AT/AAC enABLES - This is the AT/AAC enABLES web site provided by the University of Washington. “Demonstrating how Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) enABLE individuals with disabilities to participate in all aspects of life.”

Bookshare - The web site of Bookshare.org, “a web-based system supplying accessible books in digital formats designed for people with disabilities.” Members can scan in books to submit to the collection and share with other members. “Bookshare.org will provide a vast library of low cost scanned books instead of a small library of high quality digital books.”

CAST (the Center for Applied Special Technology) - This is the web site of CAST (the Center for Applied Special Technology) “whose missio is to expand educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities through the development and innovative uses of technology”. Their focus is on the “Universal Design for Learning” model and their National Center on Accessing the General Curriculum.

Closing the Gap - This is the web site of Closing the Gap. “Closing the Gap, Inc. is an organization that focuses on computer technology for people with special needs through its bi-monthly newspaper, annual international conference and extensive web site.”

DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) - This is the web site of DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology). DO-IT promotes the use of electronic and information technology to maximize the independence, productivity, and participation of people with disabilities.

Dynavox AAC - A web site created by the father of a child who communicates with a Dynavox AAC device. The Dynavox Page Exchange allows parents and professionals to view and download pre-programmed pages that have been successful for other Dynavox users. Site visitors are also encouraged to share their programming.

Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI) - This web site is hosted by Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI), whose mission is to help educators ensure that their students with disabilities have equal access to information and resources. The site addresses both grade school and college level students and includes topics such as math and science, libraries, adaptive software and hardware, and more. Also included are many web links and internet resources.

Enabling Devices - This is the web site for Enabling Devices. The site provides information on toys and enabling devices for children and adults with disabilities, and includes an online catalog.

The Family Center on Technology and Disability - This is the web site of The Family Center on Technology and Disability offering “a range of information and services on the subject of assistive technologies.” The site includes a searchable database.

Funding of Assistive Technology Series - This online booklet is a part of the “Funding of Assistive Technology Series” published through the National Assistive Technology Advocacy Project. It focuses on advocating for assistive technology through the public education system, gives a detailed overview of IDEA, particularly how it pertains to assistive technology, and discusses specific court decisions.

Language Tune-Up Kit - Online information on the “Language Tune-Up Kit” Phonics software, which uses the Orton-Gillingham method for people with dyslexia, language or literacy issues.

Project Participate - This is the web site of Project Participate providing “practical solutions to enhance learning, teaching, and the full inclusion of students with disabilities in the classroom. Project Participate facilitates team collaboration and the appropriate use of technology in the classroom.”

QIAT Consortium - This is the web site of the QIAT Consortium, “a nationwide collegial endeavor dedicated to identifying, disseminating, and implementing a set of widely applicable Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology services in school settings.”

Product Search & Referral - This is the web site of rehabtool.com, “an information technology company that develops and markets innovative hardware and software integrated into solutions to assist individuals with disabilities and special needs.” Their site also offers Product Search & Referral, links to product listings and vendor listings, and more.

RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America) - This is the web site of RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). RESNA is an “interdisciplinary association of people with a common interest in technology and disability” whose purpose is to “improve the potential of people with disabilities to achieve their goals through the use of technology.”

Speak Up Texas! - This is the web site of Speak Up Texas! who “helps Texans with speech-related disabilities use the phone.” Free services include at-home training, equipment consultation, operator assistance, and professional support. Also available in Spanish.

Speaking to Write - This is the web page of Speaking to Write, which explores the use of speech recognition software by secondary students with disabilities. Included is a listing of resources and web links pertaining to speech recognition technology.

Technology and Inclusion - This is the home page for Technology and Inclusion, a non-profit organization that provides training and resources in the use of assistive technology to support full inclusion of people with disabilities. Services include the Texas Technology Resource Center, training events and direct support, assistive technology assessments and grants, and publications.

Technology and Media (TAM) Division of the Council for Exceptional Children - This is the home page of the Technology and Media (TAM) Division of the Council for Exceptional Children. It provides links to online publications including the Journal of Special Education Technology, the TAM Connector, and other resources.

Texas Technology Access Project - This is the web site of the Texas Technology Access Project who “provides information, conducts training and technical assistance and works with policy makers to support children and adults with disabilities in their efforts to acquire and use technology as a routine part of day-to-day living.” The site includes links to statewide information and resources. Also available in Spanish.

YAACK - This is the table of contents for the YAACK web site, (Augmentative and Alternative Communication Connecting Young Kids). It provides a great deal of information about AAC and related issues for children which includes: Getting Started, Choosing an AAC System, and Teaching.
