Texas Education Agency School Health – Students with Special Health Needs – In accordance with HB 1322 passed by the 81st Legislative Session in 2009, TEA added fact sheets to its website on specific disabilities. Fact sheets (in pdf format) offer an overview of the disorder, symptoms or behaviors associated with the disorder, educational implications, and instructional strategies and classrooms accommodations that might be provided.

Angelman Syndrome Foundation – This is the website of the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. It provides information for families; medical information; and available conferences, workshops, and mailing lists.
Apraxia-Kids – The Apraxia-Kids web site proves “information on developmental apraxia of speech (verbal dyspraxia) and children’s speech and language topics, including evaluation, therapy, and other childhood communication topics.” Also included are listservs, parent networks and online chats.
Autoimmune Disabilities Guide for Moms – This website was developed by a mother with Hashimoto’s disease as a forum for moms with autoimmune disabilities to share their stories, information and resources. Topics include diet, relationships, vitamins & herbs, kids & life, immune system and environment. Here you can also find information on specific immune conditions and related articles.
Chromosome Disorder Outreach – CDO is a non–profit organization, founded, supported, and run by parents of children with chromosome disorders, including deletions, duplications, trisomies, inversions, translocations, and rings. This website provides a network of support and information through an extensive library of up–to–date articles, newsletters, and links to chromosome specific support groups.

Epilepsy Foundation of America – The website of the Epilepsy Foundation of America whose mission is to “work for children and adults affected by seizures through research, education, advocacy and service.”
Epilepsy Foundation Texas – The website of the Epilepsy Foundation Texas-Houston/Dallas-Fort Worth/West Texas provides information on services for children and families, empowerment of adults with epilepsy, training opportunities, discount medical services, and more.
FRAXA – This is the home page for FRAXA, founded by parents of children with Fragile X Syndrome to support scientific research aimed at finding a treatment and a cure. Their site provides information on Fragile X Syndrome, research news, and grants.
Friends and Families of Asians with Special Needs – FFASN serves members and their families in the Houston area by providing seminars, information sharing, structured activities and family events.
Fragile X Alliance of Texas – Their mission is to provide support to individuals and families affected by Fragile X-associated Disorders.
Genetic Alliance – This is the website of the Genetic Alliance, “an international coalition of individuals, professionals, and genetic support organizations that is working together to enhance the lives of everyone impacted by genetic conditions”. International OCD Foundation – The International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) is an international not-for-profit organization made up of people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, as well as their families, friends, professionals and others.
Klinefelter Syndrome Information and Support – AAKSIS is a national volunteer association with the mission of education, support, research, and understanding of 47 XXY and its variants, collectively known as Klinefelter Syndrome.
Muscular Dystrophy Association – MDA is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Texas – This is the web site of NAMI-Texas, a non-profit organization that is affiliated with the national organization and has local affiliates throughout Texas.
