Association for Science in Autism Treatment – ASAT\’s mission is to share accurate, scientifically sound information about autism and treatments for autism.
Attwood – This is the website of Dr. Tony Attwood, a psychologist who specializes in the diagnosis and support of children with Asperger’s Syndrome. The site includes internet and printed resources, research reports, and conference information.
Autism Fact Sheet – A web publication by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Its mission is to collect and disseminate research information related to neurological disorders.
Autism National Committee (AutCom) – On this website you will find updates on politics and judicial decisions; commentary by people with autism; information about developmental and relationship-based approaches to early intervention and education; and coverage of issues affecting community living, home-owning, and consumer choice.
Autism Navigator – The Autism Navigator® offers online courses, tools, and resources to support families as well as professionals. Their first online course, About Autism in Toddlers, is free to the public.
Autism Research Institute – ARI is a non-profit research, resource and referral organization that conducts and funds research to find the causes and develop safe, effective treatments for autism. The website features a large number of resources on topics related to autism, including articles, videos and free webinars for parents and professionals.
Autism Self Advocacy Network – ASAN was created to provide support and services to individuals on the autism spectrum while working to educate communities and improve public perceptions of autism. ASAN’s online library includes policy advocacy toolkits and self-advocacy resources.
Autism Society of America – This is the website of the Autism Society of America, whose mission is to “create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully.”
Autism Speaks – This site provides a state-by-state resource guide for autism services and providers in the U.S. Search by category and zip code. See also The Autism Speaks 100 Day Kit for Newly Diagnosed Families of Young Children, which was created specifically for families of children ages 4 and under to make the best possible use of the 100 days following their child\’s diagnosis of autism.
Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – This information is from the CDC\’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.
Center for Parent Information and Resources – The CPIR has a fact sheet on Autism (also available in Spanish – El Espectro del Autismo).
Center for Autism and Related Disorders – CARD is one of the world\’s largest organizations using applied behavior analysis (ABA) in the treatment of autism spectrum disorder. They have various locations throughout Texas.
DIR®Floortime Model – Stanley Greenspan & Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning disorders have created this website to provide information on what the Floortime model is, how to get started, find schools, etc. There are also a number of videos and some on line training modules (for fee).
Easter Seals – The Easter Seals “Living with Autism” series includes State Autism Profiles, Autism Signs and Symptoms, and Autism After Age 21.
Families for Early Autism Treatment (FEAT) – FEAT is a non-profit organization of parents, family members and treatment professionals dedicated to providing best outcome Education, Advocacy and Support for the Northern California Autism Community. The site includes autism resources and links to local and regional FEAT chapters.
FEAT-Houston – FEAT-Houston’s mission is to improve the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by increasing resources and providing information about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). They offer workshops and meetings with training on effective treatment strategies for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Some of their ABA resources are in Spanish.
National Autism Association – The NAA responds to the most urgent needs of the autism community by providing real help and hope so that all affected can reach their full potential.
National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders (NPDC on ASD) – This is a multi-university center to promote the use of evidence-based practice for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
Organization for Autism Research – OAR funds research studies that investigate treatments, educational approaches, and statistical aspects of autism. Resources for parents, educators and professionals include OAR\’s Life Journey Through Autism Series.
Project IDEAL – A website devoted to providing teacher preparation, but a good resource for families. They have specific online training modules on Managing Behavior. This project also offers a definition & characteristics of those with Autism.
